Hb O Padova in a Spanish Family.

چکیده
Haematological and biochemical aspects of a new family with heterozygous Hb O Padova [alpha 30(B11) Glu----Lys] is described. This variant has been found on a screening programme of abnormal haemoglobin in cord blood. It was separated by cellulose acetate, isoelectric focusing, citrate agar, DEAE-cellulose chromatography and by cation exchange high-performance liquid chromatography. The heat stability and the functional properties were found to be normal. This is the third family with Hb O Padova reported, all from the Mediterranean region.

Silent haemoglobin variants and determination of HbA(1c) with the HPLC Bio-Rad Variant II.
AIMS To evaluate the determination of HbA(1c) with an automated high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method in patients with clinically silent haemoglobin variants. METHODS HbA(1c) values were determined with the ion exchange HPL Bio-Rad Variant II using the high resolution beta thalassaemia programme in patients with silent haemoglobin variants, namely: Hb Graz, Hb Sherwood Forest, ...
متن کاملThe effect of SARS-COV-2 infection on the hematological markers
Background and Aim: The novel coronavirus 2019 can lead to a vast range of respiratory complications, from mild to severe, driving to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Common symptoms of Covid-19 include fever, fatigue, and dry cough, which can lead to complications, such as gastrointestinal disorders, and liver, cardiac, and renal dysfunctions. Alteration in the hematological markers...
متن کاملDisagreement and Degrees of Assertiveness in Service Encounters: Purchase vs Problem-Solving Interactions
This paper examined disagreement in two sets of data in the context of service encounters: problem-solving interactions (doctor-patient communication) and purchase-oriented encounters (pharmacies) from a cross-cultural perspective (Spanish-British English). We proposed assertiveness, a term that refers to both socio-psychological and linguistic features of communication, as a concept that may h...
متن کاملGenomic rearrangements at the BRCA1 locus in Spanish families with breast/ovarian cancer.
BACKGROUND Large genomic rearrangements (LGRs) account for a substantial proportion of the BRCA1 disease-causing changes, or variations, identified in families with hereditary breast/ovarian cancer [HB(O)C]. Great differences in the spectrum and prevalence of BRCA1 LGR have been observed among populations. Here we report the first comprehensive analysis of BRCA1 LGRs conducted in Spain. METHO...

Background: High maternal hemoglobin concentration has been increasingly linked to poor pregnancy outcomes in recent years. This study was aimed to determine whether high maternal hemoglobin (Hb) in first trimester is associated with preeclampsia. Materials and Methods: In 2009 a retrospective study was conducted and demographic and obstetric records of 1513 low risk pregnant mother registered ...
